The members of Genoa Club Amsterdam have voted Diego Perotti as our Genoano of the year 2014/2015. The winner of 2013/2014: Mattia Perin ended on the second place just before Iago Falque and Sebastian De Maio. The handover of the trophy is next Saturday 21st November at the Gianluca Signorini trainingground.
Mr. Gasperini, our succesful coach is popular with fans and players
In a fantastic atmospher Genoa has beaten Inter with 3-2 and reached Europa-League football for the next season on the pitch. After a great choreographie It was Genoa that started very offensive, but it was Icardi of Inter who opened the score: 0-1. After only a few minutes Pavoletti scored the equalizer with a great shot from just outside the penaltyarea. Our ex-player Rodrigi Palacio again gave Inter the lead but an error between goalkeeper Handanovic and defender Ranocchia gave Maxime Lestienne the chance to score his first goal in Serie A: 2-2. In the 2nd half bot teams tried to win but only Juraj Kucka succeeded in the 89th minute with a fantastic header behind Handanovic. The party started !
Juraj Kucka heades the winning goal behind Handanovic of Inter: 3-2
Iago(l) Falque already scored 13 times this season
Also without superstrikers like Perotti, Borriello and Niang we can play fantastic football and score many goals. In the matches against Torino (5-1 in Marassi) and Atalanta (1-4 in Bergamo) the team of Mr. Gasperini (he is talking with Mr. Preziosi about extending his contract) played very offensive and created many chances. Genoa is now on the 6th position in the standings which means qualification to Europa League at the end of the season. As said by Mr. Preziosi the UEFA refused so far to give Genoa a license to play in Europa League, let’s hope the objection of Genoa succeeds. Saturdaynight we play against nr. 8 in te standings Inter with 28 Dutch and Belgium fans of Genoa Club Amsterdam and Genoa Club Bruxelles in Luigi Ferraris.
Genoa Club Amsterdam Genoano of the season 2013/2014: Mattia Perin
Mattia Perin our young and fantastic goalkeeper who already made his debut in the Italian National Team last November when he was only 22 years and 8 days old resigned a new contract with Genoa till the summer of 2019 ! Also Mr. Gasperini wants to stay with us, but he wants Mr. Preziosi to sell a maximum of 2 or 3 players of the present team and to keep Diego Perotti or Iago(l) Falque. Let’s hope our fantastic team can stay together for at least another year !
For the first time since 1958 Genoa did win in San Siro against A.C. Milan. After Diego Lopez saved Milan several times it was Andrea Bertolacci with a run of 50 meters who opened the score. Just after the break M’baye Niang promoted a shot of Tino Costa besides the Spanish goalkeeper of Milan: 0-2. Mexes scored out of a corner 1-2 and gave now hope to the Milan-fans, but in the 93rd minute Iago Falque realized the penalty that was given because of the foul of Mexes against Kucka: 1-3.
Genoa now is 6th in the standings with 50 points and inside the Europa-League zone. A fantastic result which is very much appreciated by the fans as you could see last Sunday in the homematch against Cesena (3-1 by goals of Bertolacci, Perotti and Pavoletti):
Gradinata Nord with the 7 logo’s of Genoa during the years
After the victory in Rome against Lazio (0-1 by a penalty of Perotti) the gialloblu of Hellas Verona came to Marassi. Especially because of the many extreme-right fans of Hellas it was very nice that this was the match of our coloured player M’Baye Niang who scored 2 of our goals in the 5-2 victory. The other 3 goals were scored by Bertolacci, Perotti and an own goal of defender Agostini of Verona. With this victory we have just like Sampdoria 35 points and we raise to the 6th position in the standings.
M’Baye Niang scores 2-0 against Hellas Verona after a cross of Falque
On Saturday 21st February the derby was postponed because of the heavy rainfall the last 3 hours before the match. After hours of discussion about the new day the match again took place on Tuesday 24th February at 18.30 hours. In the 17th minute Iago Falque opened the score after a perfect cross of M’Baye Niang. The happiness lasted only 2 minutes when Roncaglia lost the ball just outside the penaltyarea and Eder scored the equalizer. In the 94th and last minute Genoa was very close to score the deserved winning goal, but Kucka headed the ball on the crossbar and the rebound of Bertolacci was saved by goalkeeper Viviano. Genoa stays 6th in the standings with 36 points.
Iago Falque celebrates his openinggoal in the derby
Finally again a victory for the Gasp-boys. Diego Perotti realized the penalty in the 30th minute after the foul of goalkeeper Marchetti against Niang: 0-1 in Stadio Olimpico. Genoa refused several times to decide the match definitively by scoring a second goal so till the last minute we had to suffer. With this victory Genoa has beaten Lazio 8 times in a row from season 2011/2012 till now. Our team of captain Mattia Perin is now 7th in the standings with 32 points in 22 matches. Strange but true: so far we booked the same results as in the first part of this season against Napoli (1-2 defeat), Fiorentina (0-0 in Florence and 1-1 in Genova) and Lazio (1-0 victory). The match in Verona against Hellas ended in 2-2, Sunday we want to break with the statistics and win in Marassi.
Unless the good position in the standings Mr. Preziosi (again) bougth and sold many players in the winter transferperiod. Mr. Gasperini lost and welcomed 8 players:
NEW (substitute of):
22 Marco Borriello, A.S. Roma (Alessandro Matri, Juventus)
11 M’baye Niang, A.C. Milan (Ioannis Fetfatzidis, Chievo)
19 Leonardo Pavoletti, Sassuolo (Mauricio Pinilla, Atalanta Bergamo)
20 Alberto Facundo Costa, Spartak Moscow (Leandro Greco, Hellas Verona)
18 Zakarya Bergdich, Valladolid (Luca Antonelli, A.C. Milan)
93 Diego Laxalt, Empoli (Stefano Sturaro, Juventus)
41 Lorenzo Ariaudo, Sassuolo (Aleandro Rosi, Fiorentina)
2 Alassane Tambè, Kortrijk (Franco Mussis, Copenhagen)
Of course it is a pity that our captain Luca Antonelli leaves our club after 5 years to the team of his youth: A.C. Milan and it would be better if Alessandro Matri and Stefano Sturaro stayed with us till the end of the season. On the other hand we have fantastic new players like Marco Borriello, M’baye Niang and “Tino” Costa. Only the results in the field can tell us if we are improved or not this tranferperiod.
So far this transferperiod Genoa sold 3 players: Mauricio Pinilla (Atalanta), Leandro Greco (Verona) and Franco Mussis (back to Copenhagen). As substitute of playmaker Greco is hired Tino Costa of Spartak Moscow who after the match aginst Inter last Sunday now is heavily injured, so at the moment we don’t have a playmaker. As substitute of Pinilla Genoa had an agreement with Goran Pandev (Galatassary) but Pandev is coming from a country outside the European Union and despite the fact that he played for over 10 years in Italy he is not allowed to join Genoa this transferperiod. Till last Sunday not a big problem, but now Alessandro Matri is injured for 45 days, so we do not have a central forward player. Before the match next Sunday against Sassuolo Genoa has to buy at least a new central forward. The names which are in the media: Borriello, Osvaldo and Destro, but we all hope for the return of Diego Milito !
In 2014 we beat:
Mattia Perin, Genoano of the year 2013/2014
and we made new friends:
Genoa Club Amsterdam and Genoa Club Bruxelles together in Amsterdam
Last Sunday we met our Belgium friends of Genoa Club Bruxelles in the city-center of Amsterdam. After a lunch (with beer and a lot of old stories of course) in the famous Jordaan-area of Amsterdam we went to the house of G.C. A’dam member Ezio Pesce to watch the topmatch Genoa – A.C. Milan on tv. Both supportersclubs were present with 5 members and everybody was sure that after the victory against Juventus we would also beat Milan in Marassi. After 32 minutes Luca Antonelli headed the corner of Diego Perotti behind goalkeeper Lopez of Milan and the neighbours of Ezio heard us all scream: 1-0. In the 2nd half Milan tried to score the equalizer but they only got half of a chance of Bonavetura who missed. After the victory that was celebrated with white wine and (of course) limoncello we went to the Pancake-bakery to end the very nice meeting of the Belgium and Dutch Griffins. The next meeting is in March when the Olandesi go to Bruxelles and in May both supportersclubs go to hometome Genova to play the 7th United in the Name of Genoa tournament and to visit Genoa-Inter.
