Dario Dainelli has scored the equalizer in Bologna; Rossi and Floro Flores are happy

Mr. Ballardini wanted to make the match in Bologna and put both Milanetto and Veloso in the centre of the midfield. The tactical-plan lasted only 7 minutes when Veloso had to leave the pitch because of an injury. In the 28th minute our ex-friend Marco di Vaio opened the score but before he scored he used his hand to get the ball free of Criscito. The referee and the linesman did not see it: 1-0. The joy of Bologna lasted only 15 minutes when Dario Dainelli first headed the ball against the arms of goalkeeper Viviano and in the rebound scored the equalizer: 1-1. In the 2nd half both teams had some chances, but at the end everybody was happy with a draw, only the fact that Di Vaio touched the ball with his hand before he scored …

Antonio Floro Flores and Rodrigo Palacio celebrate the only goal against Palermo

Today Genoa booked a very important victory against Palermo, a concurrent in the race to the Europa League-zone. A goal of Antonio Floro Flores in the 77th minute decided the match that was played during constantly rainfall. Genoa is now 10 points ahead of the relegation-zone and 4 points behind number 7 Juventus. The next weeks have to tell us if we can try to reach European football or that we only have to play to reach the left-side of the standings and to be above Sampdoria which has 7 points less than us and is just above the relegation-zone. Sunday we play at 15.00 hours in Bologna.

Mauro Boselli scores in Giuseppe Meazza his first goal with Genoa

The halftime score was 0-1 by a great goal of Rodrigo Palacio. Within 10 minutes in the second half Inter scored 3 times (Pazzini and 2x Eto’o) and the match was over. Just as in Catania it looked like they had put something in the tea of Genoa at halftime. During the rest of the 2nd half it was an attractive and friendly match with another 3 goals: Pandev and Nagatomo brought the score to 5-1 and Mauro Boselli, who substituted Paloschi in the 74th minute, scored his first goal with Genoa: 5-2.  Genoa now is 12th in the standings with 35 points in 28 matches. Europe is far away at the moment.

Miguel Veloso missed the penalty to score the equalizer

Genoa played a fantastic first half on the island Sicily. The score was only 0-1 by a goal of Floro Flores, while Marco Rossi hit the crossbar. Referee Giannoccaro also refused to give Genoa at least 1 penalty. After the halftime-break everything was different. Genoa played bad, Catania scored twice inbetween 4 minutes (51st en 55th) and Genoa received 3 red cards (Criscito, Floro Flores and coach Ballardini) within 3 minutes. This was also too much to referee Giannoccaro who gave Genoa a penalty to score the equalizer, but Veloso missed. Genoa stays on the 10th position in the standings, but the possiblity of qualification to European football is almost over.

Everybody gets crazy after Paloschi scored 4-3

Everything seemed over after 51 minutes at which moment Roma lead by 0-3 after goals of Mexes, Burdisso and Totti. Only 1 minute later Palacio scored 1-3 and a little hope returned in the hearts of the Rossoblu. Because of injuries Mr. Ballardini had to substitute Milanetto and Rossi by Veloso and Paloschi, who immediately scored 2-3 in the 68th minute. Only 6 minutes later it was again Rodrigo Palacio who scored: 3-3. In the last 15 minutes the incredible dream came true: also Paloschi scored his second goal and brought the result of 4-3 on the scorebord.

Rafinha scores a fantastic goal and decides the derby (0-1; 16-02-2011)

Tonight Genoa did win the first derby of this season by 0-1. After Palacio and Rossi hit the crossbar in the first half it was Rafinha with a fantastic shot of 25 meters in the 54th minute who decided the derby: 0-1. A honest victory of the team who was without any doubt the best team in the field. This goal of Rafinha reminds us all at the famous Branco-goal in the past, both players are Brasilian.

Mesto and Rossi against Bari

Another goalless draw of Genoa and just as against Chievo the feeling is that we lost 2 points and not that we can be happy with the draw. Already in the 9th minute Palacio hit the post after a good combination with Kucka. If this would be a goal, the match surely would be completely different. The positive thing about this match is once again our defense, which is very good if Dainelli is in the field. Also Eduardo is much more comfortabel in the goal if “the wall of Florence” is in front of him.

Antonio Floro Flores celebrates his first goal with Genoa against Milan, he scored before with Arezzo and Udinese against Milan

A good match of Genoa that ended in a 1-1 draw with goals of Pato and Floro Flores in the first half. With Dainelli, Rossi and Milanetto back in the team Genoa played probably the best match so far this season. After an amazing assist of Ibrahimovic it was Pato who scored the opening-goal. Just before halftime Mark van Bommel helped Genoa to block the ball of Konko towards Floro Flores who beat goalkeeper Abbiati easily: 1-1. In the 2nd half both teams got some chances but after all a draw was the most right result.

Eduardo thinks about his blooper(s) with Genoa

Again Genoa lost in Florence by 1-0. Like almost every year we deserved a draw in a horrible match in which none of the teams earned 3 points. This year it was an error of Eduardo (his fourth after the matches against Inter, Juventus and Udinese) who gave Santana the chance to score the only goal. The only big chance of Genoa was missed by Criscito, while Floro Flores, Palacio and Paloschi had difficult opportunities. Now Genoa is 13th in the standings and Sunday we play at home against nr. 1: A.C. Milan.

new against old: Kucka defends Palladino

Genoa has beaten Parma by 3-1 and climbed to the shared 10th postion in the standings with 27 points. Man of the match was Parma-defender Paletta. First Paletta fouled Floro Flores in the penaltyarea, the penalty was realized by Rodrigo Palacio. After Hernan Crespo scored the equalizer it was Paletta who headed the ball in his own goal and gave Genoa the lead again: 2-1. A few minutes later Palleta blocked a shot of Marco Rossi only half, so Kaka Kaladze could score the last goal: 3-1. With Genoa striker Alberto Paloschi made his debut and Abdoulay Konko played his first match in Luigi Ferraris after 2 1/2 years with Sevillia.
